Our story

Redefining Embedded Payments and Finance

Sean Donovan and Angie Ammon co-founded Tesouro in 2021, drawing on their fifteen years of experience building the Payment Facilitator program at Fifth Third Processing Solutions, now Worldpay. Over the next decade, Sean and Angie dedicated their careers to simplifying embedded payments. After leaving Worldpay (then Vantiv) in 2015, Sean co-founded the first platform designed to help software companies integrate with legacy processors, while Angie ran a successful consultancy guiding software companies in defining and executing payments strategies. Together, their work shaped the embedded payments landscape, but they saw firsthand the growing challenges in scaling this model.

In 2021, Sean and Angie recognized that after 12 years, executing an embedded strategy was still incredibly complex. Legacy processors were built decades ago, designed for a different era, and all solutions for embedded payments were layered on top of these outdated systems. Furthermore, the critical role of banks in this ecosystem had been overlooked, limiting the number of banks willing to support this activity. With their extensive experience working with hundreds of Payment Facilitators, they set out to build a solution that creates operational efficiencies, unlocks new revenue streams, and addresses the industry’s real problems. Tesouro was born as the first processor for embedded payments and finance, unlocking the full potential of this transformative model.
